Without a ground game, Obama brings North Dakota into play

North Dakota's three electoral votes have gone to the Republican candidate in every presidential election in the last 40 years. So it wasn't surprising that the Obama campaign decided to pull out of ND three weeks ago when they were behind by 13 points in the polls.

This makes the following polling data all that much more impressive:

Obama has managed to gain a handful of points in the polls and McCain's numbers have nosedived. The numbers right now are still well within each poll's margin of error so ND is now being considered a 'toss-up' state by most polling groups. This in itself is pretty amazing. An Obama win here would represent a dramatic shift in the political landscape of this country.
